The adjoining big 5 Game reserves of Hluhluwe/Imfolozi cover an area of 90 000 Hectares & is the oldest Game Reserve in Africa with the noted distinction of being the place where the white Rhino was saved from extinction. These world renowned Parks have the largest population of Rhino in the world. The terrain is also mountainous with rivers & valleys, all year green trees & bush which abound in birdlife. The Parks can be daytripped from St. Lucia or from the Hluhluwe area if you are not fortunate to get a reservation in the park itself. The magnifecent Hilltop camp atop one of the highest vantage points in the Hluhuwe Park is ideal for panoramic views and also a must visit for Sunday lunch, a refreshing drink, curio shopping or ideally as a sleepover. This game reserve was once the exclusive hunting grounds of King Shaka and over 400 bird species have been recorded.
